Under-20 Indian National Rugby Team, Four KISS players Selected For Laos
|
|
KISS Rugby Team is a recipient of remarkable achievement for the entire country. They had been to London in 2007 to Austral in 2008 and France in 2009 now at Laos in 2010 to participate in Indian National Team at the Asian Championship held at Laos from 17th to 21st August, 2010.
Rajkishore Murmu, Niranjan Biswal, Chhitaranjan Murmu, Muna Murmu, four students from Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), a sister concern of KIIT, have been selected in the team.
Selection of these students in this national team is a great honour to KISS & KIIT, said Dr. A. Samanta, Founder, KISS & KIIT.

Two KISS Girls selected for National Women Sub–Junior Football Team of Odisha

Ratani Hembram and Jayanti Kisku of KISS have been selected in the, Sub–Junior Football Team of Odisha. The girls of KISS will represent the 7th U-16 National Sub-Junior Women Football Championship. The training is being commencing from 19th August 2010 at Haldwani of Uttarakhand.
Dr. A. Samanta, Founder, KISS and KIIT expressed his happiness and congratulated the selected players.

KISS Inks MoU with RSB
|

On 30th June 2101 Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), a sister concern of KIIT, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with RSB Metaltech Pvt. Ltd. for strengthening the relationship between the two organizations to provide value-based education to children from marginalized communities. The MoU was signed between Dr. Prashant Routaray, CEO KISS and Mr. S. K. Mishra, President, RSB Metaltech Pvt. Ltd. at Hotel Mayfair on the 30th June, 2010 in the presence of important dignitaries.
RSB will collaborate with KISS for upliftment of the marginalized and vulnerable sections of population in Orissa, as per the provisions of the MoU. The two organizations will work together to develop education, technologies, research and vocational training of the tribals from different parts of the country. KISS and RSB will also work together to promote, strengthen, disseminate and advance knowledge through research on indigenous tribal art and culture. The efforts will result in the spread of quality education among marginalized population and awareness among them on their rights.
RSB Metaltech has agreed to sponsor under-16 boys’ rugby team of KISS for a period of one year. Expenses of the team like their outfit, sports accessories, domestic travel, food, medical, etc. will be borne by the company.
RSB Metaltech, one of the units of RSB Group, is in the process of setting up an Integrated Aluminium Project comprising of mining & bauxite refining (alumina) in Rayagada district and aluminium smelting, coal based captive power plant (CPP) & aluminum downstream complex at Kamakhyanagar in Dhenkanal district of Odisha. The company follows sensitive, people-centric and socially relevant CSR philosophy.
In an innovative approach, Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) has been motivating the corporate houses to send tribal children of the displaced families in their project areas to KISS, where they receive free education and other facilities absolutely free of cost. This way the corporate houses are helped to discharge their corporate social responsibility. The drop-outs and unemployed youths between the age group of 18 and 25 years are provided with vocational training and assured jobs at the end of their training period. Recently, SEW Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., a Hyderabad based company recruited 150 children for various categories of jobs. Similarly, other big corporate houses including Café Coffee Day, Delphi, etc. have recruited students and trainees from KISS in the past.
RSB is pleased and proud to be a partner with KISS, an organization which has been a pioneer in promoting and providing support to the backward tribal students of Orissa, said S. K. Mishra after signing the MoU. Commenting on the partnership, Dr. A. Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS said that the MoU brings the two great organizations together for a noble cause. Among others, Shri R. K. Behera, Chairman, RSB Group, Mr. B. K. Mishra, CGM, RSB Metaltech and Mr. S. K. Pradhan, C.A.O. were also present.

Visit of Dr.KIM, SENUG-JAE, Dean and student delegates from Hanseo University, Seoul ,South Korea

Under the guidance of Dr. KIM, SENUG-JAE, Dean Student affairs and a group of student delegates from Hanseo University, Seoul, South Korea visited KISS on 21ST July 2010. The team interacted with the staff and students during their eight-day tour. They were involved with different activities like mass hair-cut, plantation, class-room activities of KISS. This will help the students of the two countries to exchange inter-mural opinions to find out efficient and effective ways that inspire spirits, improve living environments, understand and appreciate each other's better.

GRANDEUR CAR FESTIVAL CELEBRATED AT KISS

|
The biggest and the grandest of all festivals, popularly known as “RATHAYATRA” was celebrated at Shri Banikhetra of KISS on 13th July 2010.It was celebrated with lots of passion and joviality. Lord Jagannath with brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra visit to Gundicha temple, for nine days. The three deities are being carried on three colourful wooden chariots, decorated with flowers , appliqué work and mural paintings.
The yatra starts with various rituals. Then Pahandi was done to the inaugurated Chariots , followed by a procession. Thousands of devotees gathered to pull the three chariots in the afternoon after Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT and KISS performed the holy ritual of cherapahanra, the ceremonial sweeping of the chariots. The special feature of Ghosayatra here is that, Devadalan, the chariot of Goddess Subhadra was pulled by only females.

Three Girls From KISS Are selected for Asian Games Training Camp
|
|
Three girls from Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) are provisionally selected for Asian Games Training Camp. They have been selected for training-cum-coaching camp to be held at Balevadi of Pune from 3rd July to 10th November, 2010.
They are Pankajini Majhi (Santal), Bhagyalaxmi Barik (Sabar) and Hiramani Kisku (Santal). They are preparing for final squad of 12 players to represent the country in Asian Games 2010 to be held at Ghingzhou, China November2010. The selected girls would undergo intensive training and would be participating in various International Tournaments leading up to the games. All expenses for travel, accommodation, fooding etc will be provided by Govt. of India.

KISS & KIIT Students to Represent India at “Global Walk-Green Earth” in Korea
|

“Global Walk-Green Earth” a world wide event was organized by Hanseo University, Korea to promote oneness and exchange dreams among students from different parts of the world. This will help the students of different countries to understand and appreciate each other's culture. This year about 100 students are participating in the event. The event is from June 24 to 30, 2010
Rajesh Kumar Barla of KISS and Sangharsh Soumen Satpathy of KIIT have been selected to participate in this event. Rajesh is a 2nd year student of +2 Science, while Sangharsh is a B.Tech 3rd year student of Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering.
Selection of Rajesh and Sangharsh in this international event is a great honour to KISS & KIIT, said Dr. A. Samanta, Founder, KISS & KIIT.

EXPOSURE CUM CAPACITY BUILDING TRAINING AT RGNIYD

A team of 32 Resource persons including three project staff had been to Chennai on 19th June’10. A seven days exposure cum capacity building training programme was organized. It was at Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, Sriperundpur, Chhenia. RGNIYD is a deemed University which endeavors to facilitate the nation’s youth with a conducive environment. It helps the youth to develop their natural potential to realize their aspirations. Besides this, it is a resource centre which coordinates training, orientations, and research and outreach activities.
Learning is a process, Resource persons of KISS has been oriented on the issues time and again. In return, they have been sensitizing students on the issue, participating in communication activities, developing curriculum for students as well as performing plays to internalize life skills.

KISS Represented in Odisha Volleyball Team
|
|
The 18th Mini National Volleyball Tournament 2010, was held in Bhopal. It was from 23rd June to 1st July 2010. Players in both boys and girls team were mostly from Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS).
Six boys selected for this tournament are Bhima Golari, Kora Rohita, Siba Badanayak, Chulamani Sabar, Jaysen Disari and Bharat Mallick.
Eight girls wera chosen for the state girls squad are Pravati Mundri, Pramila Sisa, Pupren Oram, Sebati Soren, Kabita Hembram, Tapaswini Oram, Usha Xallxo and Ghasadi Santa.

17th Annual Day Celebration of KISS

Every year KISS celebrates its annual day with great pomp and show. The 17th annual function of KISS was held before the sizzling summer vacation. The function was held on 6th and 7th of May 2010.The two days celebration was very vibrant. On 6th we had with us ,Dr.Sruti Mohapatra , Social Activist, who was very much delighted to meet the huge gathering of tribal students. She appreciated the noble work undertaken by Dr. A Samanta, founder of KISS and KIIT .The eminent guest for the closing ceremony were His Excellency Shri Murlidhar Chandrakant Bhandare, the Governor of Orissa and Dr.Buta Singh, Hon’ble Chairman, National Commission for Scheduled Castes, New Delhi . Both of them appreciated the achievements of KISS in different fields. They expressed their happiness and praised the efforts made by Dr. A. Samant for changing the lives of thousands of poor tribal boys and girls by providing them education.
Dr. Samanta expressed his gratitude to the guest present in the occasion. Dr. P. K. Routray, CEO, KISS proposed the vote of thanks. The meritorious students and best staffs of the year were felicitated on the occasion. The ceremony ends with a effervescent cultural programme by the staff and students of KISS.

Grand Inauguration of Temples at KISS
|

A grand Inaugural function of different temples was held at the premises of KISS. The sanctified function began with kalasa yatra . The chanting of mantras ,yagnas and the beating of drums created a sanctimonious environment at KISS. The temple of Bata Ganesha, Kasi Biswanatha, Pancha Sakti Rama-Laskhman-Sita, Radha-Krishna and Mahabir temples were inaugurated at KISS on 18th March 2010.
The function started at the arrival of His Highness Shri Dibya Singh Dev, Gajapati Maharaj .The occasion was graced with a large number of spiritual leaders and many important dignitaries. They are Swami Nirliptananda Saraswati, Vice President, International Dibyajibana Association, Swami Sibachidananda Saraswati, Dibyajibana Association, Bhubaneswar, Chaitanya Charana Das, President, Bhagabata Ashram, Puri, Baba Ramanarayana Das, Founder of Rama and Mahabir Temple, Unit-1, Bhubaneswar, Hon'ble Justice A. S. Naidu, Judge, Orissa High Court, Dr. Harekrishna Satapathy, Chancellor, Tirupati Sanskrit University, organizer Suryamani Natha Sharma and many other renowned personalities.
Dr. A. Samanta, Founder, KISS & KIIT has expressed his appreciation to the entire guest present at the function. He offered special thanks to the Gajapati Maharaja for his kind presence. Parayana, Bhajana, Kirtana, Prabachana and cultural programmes made the function very vivacious. Prasad Seban was arranged for fifteen thousand people. This way the pious day came to an end.

Visit of Shri Kantilal Bhuria, Hon’ble Minister for Tribal Affairs, Govt. of India

Shri Kantilal Bhuria, Hon’ble Minister for Tribal Affairs, Govt. of India inaugurated an International Seminar on 'We and our Tribes Caring culture and sharing thoughts’ at KISS on 10th February 2010. The seminar will continue for a period of two months. A large number of eminent academicians and personalities will deliver lecture on various aspects of tribal development during the course. He also inaugurated UNFPA-KISS Life Skill Office and a Dongaria Kondh Demo House. The Hon’ble Union Minister visited different units of KISS and planted a sapling. A meeting was arranged in the lawn. Dr. A. Samanta, Founder KIIT & KISS, Dr. A. B. Ota, Director, State Tribal Research and Training Institute, Dr. Satyendra Patnaik of KISS, Smt. Saswati Bal, President, KISS. Dr. P. K. Routray, CEO, KISS with 10,000 tribal students from Kindergarten to Postgraduate level, delegates, staff from KIIT & KISS ,a large number of parents and guardian were present to grace the occasion.

International Adoption Programme held at KISS

On 31st January, 2010 “International Adoption Programme” was held at KISS. Forty number of students were adopted by Hanseo University, South Korea. The occasion was graced with esteemed guest of honor Mr. D.W.Sung ,Director POSCO India, Shri Priyabrata Patnaik IAS, CMD IIDCO, Dr.Kim Senug Jae, Dean student affairs, Hanseo University, South Korea, Mr.Rajesh Chintak ,Orissa Head Tata Steel. They received a warm welcome by Dr. A.Samanta, Secretary, the students and staff of KISS.
